Yeah, Gocong might be a bit higher than that by now. The late rounds can be tricky to predict. And those 7th round compensatory picks...well, realistically you're basically looking for guys who wouldn't be drafted at all otherwise.

With Slay, I share some of your concerns, but I don't think his low timed speed is representative of his actual ability. Just between the Combine and his pro day, he knocked 1/10 of a second off his time which suggests to me that maybe he just isn't used to timed running or something. The 114 tackles including 75 solo in 12 games last year indicates he at least has the speed and awareness to regularly be the first guy to the ballcarrier. The pre-combine chatter was that he had good closing speed. The 8 forced fumbles last year is the stat that really gets me. It just remains to be seen whether he can at least be adequate enough in coverage to get on the field to do that.
