History repeats itself? Not really.

The Bengals certainly didn't think so, after selecting QB Carson Palmer only four years after taking third overall bust Akili Smith.

Arizona had no concerns taking Larry Fitzgerald with their first pick despite drafting the unimpressive Bryant Johnson with the first pick the year before and David Boston four years before that.

Minnesota was more than happy taking DT Kevin Williams in 2003 despite bombing on DT Dimitrius Underwood in 1999.

The Rams didn't have a problem trading up for Steven Jackson despite drafting such first round RB busts as Trung Canidate and Lawrence Phillips.

History repeating itself doesn't hold much ground in terms of the draft, IMO. Besides, if history repeats itself, then we shouldn't draft a linebacker or a safety either, since Robert Thomas and Adam Archuleta aren't even with the team anymore.

As for Jean-Gilles, I figured we already have a run-blocking guard who has weight control problems in Claude Terrell. I'm really not sure why some people here are so high on him when we have a similar player already.

Well, I wasn't projecting trades, so...

As for a LB, I pick one up early on the second day. I just didn't see any value in the second or third round that was better than the players I had the Rams selecting. McIntosh over Klopfenstein? Not IMO. Alston or Ellison over Chester? No way. If Gerris Wilkinson had fallen to us, maybe.
