The Niners are more than just a rival

The Niners have been and always will be more than just a sports rival.

I have 2 Uncles, 2 Aunts and 7 cousins that live in the bay area.

I love everyone of them.

But, can't stand any of them.

Hell, my Father got a divorce over the Rams and Niners.

(never has a son been so proud).

When we were sucking gas from 1990 to 1998.

My ultimate Sunday is when we won and the Niners lost. (that didn't happen much, but, when it did).

I love the 1982 game (knocking them out of the playoffs). The 1985 mnf game beating them in frisco and winning the division.

The 1988 sunday night game. The 1990 win that ended the niners winning streak. 1999 game when the saying "same ol Rams" stopped.

Here is one of my most cherished wins.

The 1973 season was supposed to be a rebuilding year for the Los Angeles Rams.

Coming off their first losing season since 1965.

The Rams have a new owner, new coach, new QB and even new uniforms.

The first game of the 73 season was in KC.

The Chiefs were a 8 point favorite.

The Rams dominated the game.

But, the experts weren't impressed.

Wait until they play Atlanta next week.

The experts picked the Falcons to win the west.

They thought so little of the Rams that the Falcons were favored by 2.

And the game was in LA.

Rams 31 Atlanta 0.

The experts still were not impressed.

They said wait until they play a veteran playoff team in their stadium.

Game three was frisco in frisco

The niners were 5 point favorite.

The Rams took the opening kickoff to the Niner 16 yard line.

David Ray makes the FG for a 3-0 Ram lead.

The Niners drive to the one yard line of the Rams and score.

For the first time that season the Rams were losing.

That lasted around 9 seconds.

Cullen Bryant takes the kickoff 93 yards and the rout was on.

The Rams rushed for over 255 yards.

John Hadl was over 80% in completions.

They dominated on offense so great they only punted one time for the entire game.

Here is the scary part.

The Ram defense was even better.

Sacking John Brodie and Steve Spurrier 7 times.

Intercepting 3 passes.

And only giving the Niners 8 first downs.

The Rams showed the NFL they were for real with a 40-20 whipping of the Niners.

It was the beginning of a Ram dynasty and the fall of frisco.

The next day the LA Herald Examiner (greatest sport section especially if you were a ramfan).

In bold headlines it said THE RAMS ARE THE NEW NFL MONSTERS.

I still have it.

It was the beginning of 7 great seasons
