"The ***** signed Bryant a year ago, giving him a four-year, $15 million deal. But concerns about previous behavior, including a 2004 episode in which Bryant tossed a sweaty jersey into the face of Dallas Coach Bill Parcells, led the team to structure his contract so the *****' salary cap hit would be less than $1 million upon his release.
Though Bryant began last season on a high note, opening with consecutive 100-yard receiving games, his productivity slipped badly after that. He also had run-in with Nolan over being late for a special-teams meeting and was benched for the start of the Green Bay game on Dec. 10.
Bryant subsequently missed the last two games of the season when he began serving his NFL-imposed four-game suspension, which arose from a Nov. 19 arrest in San Mateo for investigation of reckless driving and resisting arrest.
The case is still pending. Prosecutors declined to file a drunken driving charge, noting there was insufficient evidence after Bryant refused to take a sobriety test. However, the refusal to take the test could lead to a yearlong suspension of his driver's license by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Wherever Bryant ends up, he'll still have to serve two games of his suspension next season."
