Further 53 man roster analysis
After thorough and careful analysis, it comes (as always) down to a numbers game. At the end of the day, if we keep a 4th tailback (excluding hedgecock), we cant keep the extra offensive lineman, which means mccollom or fry most likely, or maybe goldberg getting cut or put on the practice squad. For what its worth, barry waller doesnt think mccollum will get cut even if he isnt the starter.

Offensive Line- Pace, Barron, Incognito, Setterstrom, Mccollum, Romberg, Steussie, Terrell/Brown, Goldberg, Fry- thats 10 offensive linemen
Total on offense 26 if we keep 10 offensive linemen. If we keep rich alexis as the 4th running back, one of the offensive linemen will HAVE to go because i dont see how we can keep 27 offensive players.
here is why
Specialists (3) That number is a lock
Defense (24) I dont see how the number can be any lower than that. Here are my 24 on defense
DE (4) Little, Hall, Adeynaju, Johnson/Moore
Dt (4) Carriker, Glover, Wroten, Ryan
Lb (7) Spoon, Pisa, Chillar, Draft, Alston (all locks), Smith, Culbertson/McIgargle/Brooks
s (4) Chavous, OJ, Johnson, Carter
DB (5) Hill, Bartell, Wade, Walls, Brown
I cant see us carrying 23 on defense by not keeping a 4th defensive end, even though wroten could play outside on passing downs. I also cant see us carrying only 6 linebackers.
Thus, I think we are going to carry 24 on defense, 3 specialists and 26 on offense, meaning either a 4th running back or an extra offensive lineman wont make the team.
