ESPN's Michael Smith on the Rams

I used to like Michael Smith, but after reading this interview, I am starting to hate him.

NFL Analyst MICHAEL SMITH

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FG Staff: Where does Reggie Bush rank amongst the current NFL running backs?

Michael Smith: Where does he rank? An exact number? I can tell you that right now he is in the bottom 4th of starting RB's. I won't even talk about the time share backs. I'd take him, right now, over the Giants, Titans, Panthers, Packers, Lions, and Bears backs. He's very exciting in space. It also takes a lot of factors for that to happen. He's not gonna get the tough yards that would qualify him as one of the best backs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FG Staff: Do you think Russell will ever see the field for the Raiders this season?

Michael Smith: I think he will. He won't if they are in playoff contention at year's end. Which is not far fetched in their division. You don't want to start a true rookie next year.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FG Staff: Should all the success in Houston be credited to the aquisition of Matt Schaub?

Michael Smith: A lot of it can. The have a good coach and a great up and coming front seven. But nothing can compare to having a QB who knows what he's doing when he steps on the field. He's got confidence and poise and that makes everyone look better.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FG Staff: What is going on with LT and Steven Jackson?

Michael Smith: Well, the Rams' offensive line is battered with injuries. Bulger and Jackson are hurt with critical injuries, which drastically limits their effectiveness. LT's problem is not offensive line troubles, but a change in approach on offense. The philosophy has changed and he needs time to adjust.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FG Staff: I know it’s early, but as of now, who’s picking #1 in the draft next season?

Michael Smith: Between Rams and Vikings. I'm leaning toward the Rams. They might even decide to phone it in soon, it's really early.
What makes this guy an expert??? Throwing in the towel??? Give me a break...
