A good many guards in the NFL are actually converted OT's, so that's not as big of a deal as the fact that he'd be a first round guard. A very good example is Leonard Davis, a very big disappointment of a tackle converted to guard last year for Dallas and made the pro bowl.
As for whether or not he has the strength to do it, think of it this way. Saunders doesn't need him to be super strong, because he moves his guards around on pulls, so they need to be quick just as much as string, and Barron is that. I think he could succeed at Guard if for some reason we moved him there.
I'm hoping the new line coach finds that Barron just needs some better coaching and some ritalin and then everything will be fine. I have faith in the big lug. Not too much more, but faith.
