What I meant Nick was, that considering we took Avery ahead of all the other Wide Receiver prospects in tha draft, it can be considered a reach, at least in my opinion. Guys like Sweed, Thomas, Hardy etc. were all regarded as higher prospects than Avery especially since they may be better hands on receivers.

But that doesn't go to say they would have been a hit in our offense. Avery is the perfect guy for our system, and he's the player who fitted in out team the best above all the other receivers in the draft. As you said yourself Nick, we were looking for different attributes in a receiver; speed, agility, YAC, versatility etc. were the kinda things we were looking for. And Avery is that guy.

So, on the whole, you could say that in terms of the draft itself, Avery was in fact a reach. But in terms of looking for the player that fits what we're looking for best, Donnie wasn't a reach at all.
