Chamberlain signs

One day after completing a long term deal with first round pick Chris Long, the Rams agreed to a three-year deal with one of their seventh round selections, linebacker Chris Chamberlain.
Chamberlain is expected to compete for a backup linebacker job, a position that seemingly has plenty of openings. In the short term, though, he will be expected make his biggest impact on special teams, an area most young defenders are asked to show up before getting a chance on defense.
At Tulsa , Chamberlain was a one man wrecking crew, lining up as a weak side linebacker, a fullback and safety.
“He is a ‘will’ outside linebacker now,” coach Scott Linehan said in April. “He has the ability to run well and in certain systems or situations, he could probably, in a pinch, (play safety).”
As a senior, Chamberlain posted 165 tackles in 14 games. He is the fifth Rams draft choice to come to terms on a contract, leaving only second rounder Donnie Avery, fourth round cornerback Justin King and seventh round linebacker David Vobora unsigned.
