you don't know that was the sole reason for leaving. as mentioned in another thread, maybe they left due to his favoritism toward a handful of players, or his player management. it may not have been just about the money. maybe they didn't want to play for Martz anymore and seeing that he has the FO wrapped around his finger and wasn't going anywhere soon, they decided to leave instead.

he has control over how he treats his players. and when you treat a handful like gold and the rest like something other than gold, then you cause division and a lack of respect.

as for Warner, I think he wasn't Martz' guy. Martz chose Green, remember? the FO wouldn't let him get rid of Warner after 2000 with the way he was playing, so they got rid of Green. he wanted Bulger and got him. when the opportunity arose to have reason to bench Warner without having the FO question the move, he did so. his chosen guy played well enough to keep Warner on the bench and when the opportunity came along, he got rid of him ( for nothing mind you ). I've never seen a 2 time MVP let go for nothing.

shoot, we got a 3rd round pick for Gordon for crying out loud. and a 3rd round for Canidate. yet, for a 2 time MVP they get nothing.

I could live with the decision better is we had received something in exchange.
