Re: Hadley: RAMS MAINTAIN WITHOUT RETAINING
Ram Wraith makes some good points, but does seem to be presenting a very one sided arguement. One of the things that is not mentioned is that Warner (1999) and Brady (2001) were BACKUPS at the start of the season. Trent Green was of course the Rams intended starter whilst Bledsoe was the original Patriots starter, and did actually play in the AFC Championship game.
In other words, credit DV and BB for having two quality QBs on the roster. Maybe without that depth, neither side would have won their superbowl that year.
Yes, Kurt got injured in 2000, but who selected and coached the backups?Besides which, the reason the Rams didn't get to the Superbowl that year had more to do with the rubbish Defense that played that season than Kurt's injury.
The fact of the matter is that after every successful Rams season (my definition of those in recent times would be 1999, 2001 and 2003) Martz has been unable to sustain that performance the following season.
The points that Ram Wraith has made are valid, but so are these. Martz is very much a mixed bag, and if we are to assess his career to date we should look at both the good and the bad points.
