They are aggressive towards other dogs, not people. They were always bred to be nice and obedient to their handlers.
I can't say that I would pick a pit or a pit mix if I get another dog, but I have one now and he has a lot of good qualities. I think it is important to understand them. They are not the right dog for every person who wants to own a dog.
