how do I cut and paste text here?

Why can't I cut and paste texts TO here?

For example, if I want to copy a post from another forum, and post it here, I can't do it.

How do you do that here?

Highlight the text you want to copy, hit control C, put your curser in a message box of a thread and type control V. That should do it. If not, open a MS Word blank document, and copy it to there 1st. Then do the control C and V thing to the message box. I'm curious to see if the solves your problem. If you've already tried all of that I'm not sure what to tell you.

I just did what I described with a tidbit from Rotoworld. It worked fine for me. Sorry I couldn't help.

I can cut n paste stuff from this site, but not from anywhere else.

The control v method doesn't work.

All I end up with is a pop-up full of code.

I should add that the problem is unique to this site.

Sounds like a PBKAC error.

Last season, I copied and pasted every chapter of the BOSH. Never had a problem.

hey Z.... I dont' have any problems and I don't recall having any before I became a paying member either.

I still use Windows XP as Firefox was too limiting at the time I tried it (maybe it is better now) and I don't know it was ever an issue here anyways.....

I have previously copied info from other sites for the perusal of fellow Clannies with no problems.

I didn't assume it was everyone; since I see posted links all the time I figure it isn't anyone else.

So I need someone to explain how (1) it's not my computer, and (2) no one else has a problem.

How do I correct this.

It's quite possible it is your browser. What are you using? (windows Xp, 2000, vista: and IE6, IE7, seamonkey, opera, firefox)

I am am using WinXP with IE7, fully updated. Never had an issue, but on my kid's setups, I have had problems, especially with Kuuntu Linux and Seamonkey.

It's not the browser (windows xp). If it were the browser the problem would occur on other sites.

I may be that there's a procedure here I don't get yet. Dunno.

Yes I can use the link function but it has very limited usefulness. (Actually it didn't work. Hit the link and see what happens.)

There's no way to do that. That I know of.

Normally I just paste all 3 paragraphs in and set up each as a separate "quote."

Ok, so it appears you can cut and paste links, but you can't cut and paste text?

So, what happens when you try to cut and paste text?

one way around it is to cut and paste into notepad, then copy to here.

It is because HTML is disabled in this forum as we had several hack attempts via HTML.

So coop/paste into notepad (not word as that inserts its own code)
then copy from notepad to here.

its a pain but thats for trying to help.
