The Past, the Present and the Future

The Past…

The GSOT is the past. Living on the edge as the NFL’s gunslingers is the past. Mike Martz is the past. Kurt Warner is the past. Marshall Faulk is the past. The past brought us excitement and glory. It brought us disappointment and frustration as well. We enjoyed the past and will treasure it, though there will always be the thought that there could have been more. The past, as the past tend to be, is gone.

The Present…

The present is the remnants of the past. Veteran players who were once young stallions, and now are the experience and leadership. The present is Bulger. Cool and efficient. A quiet leader with more fire than some realized. The present is Steven Jackson – one of the scariest men with a football in his hand in the league. The present is a young defense that needs help, and a Front Office that knows it. The present is an offensive line finally coming together. The present is a head coach who is still learning, but seems to be heading in the right direction. The present is a team that will go into the offseason with the confidence brought by a three game winning streak (with an average winning score of 33-17). The present is hope.

The Future…

The future is a team with money to spend on free agents. The future is a team that must find some real defensive talent. The future is an important draft. The future is the development of young players like Klopfenstein, Incognito, Adeyanju, Wroten, Hill, Bartell and Atogwe. The future is a team that, with a few key improvements, can challenge to go all the way. The future is the hope that the Past (Bruce, Holt, Pace, Little), the present (Bulger, Jackson, Witherspoon, Tinoisamoa) and the future (Hill, Atogwe, Ingognito and ????) will all intersect to give us another champion.

I agree, I honestly never thought Steven would've been as crucial to our offense as he has been and will be for the future. What a great player!
