RAMS Defense (2 games into the 2007 version)

Our defense has played well so far this season?

Rankings:

10th- average yards allowed per game (286.5)
23rd- average points allowed per game (22)
25th- against the rush (137.5 yards per game/ 4.2 avg per rush)
4th-- against the pass (149 yards per game)

The opposition has run the ball at us 66 times and attempted passes 44 times.

The opposing quarterbacks are completing 65.9% of their passes against our "D".

We have allowed 4 plays of 20 yards or more in the 2 games combined.

The defense has recovered 4 fumbles, 3 of which our boys forced.

We have not, I repeat not, intercepted a pass and only have credit for 3 defended passes. We also have 4 sacks to our credit.

Should we be getting excited about our "D"?

I hate to say it but I think it would be premature to get excited about this defense just yet. The San Francisco Whiners inept offense skews the numbers big time.
The Whiners had a grand total of 194 net yards against the Arizona Cardinals in their first game of the season. They followed that up by amassing 186 total net yards against us. Compared to the Carolina Panthers who have had 387 net yards against us. Then followed that up last Sunday with 344 net yards vs. the Houston Texans.

The scary thing for me is that the general rule of thumb is that the Defenses are ahead of the Offenses during the first few games of the season.

The strange thing is that as bad as the Whiners offense has played they are 2-0. I guess it's better to be lucky than good.

Our turn is coming and it starts this Sunday down in Tampa Florida!!!
