1380 & KFNS reporting Hawthorne cut?

I read this on another board but can't confirm it personally. Anyone heard anything?

    Start Atogwe!

Wouldn't be surprised if he was. He hasn't played well at all thus far this season, not even after being called out. The Rams probably feel comfortable with Furrey - didn't he lead the team in tackles despite being in a limited amount of time this weekend? - and maybe this is a sign that Atogwe is progressing.

Furrey is a solid tackler but those high numbers also mean less passes swatted away. I just don't like the idea of a poor man's Archuleta playing next to the real one. At least get someone athletic and young - or, maybe it's too early in the season.

    Furrey is a solid tackler...
A one-on-one tackle against Alexander would've saved a TD. But sadly I suppose he's the best we have.

Right now I think he is, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Atogwe starting in a couple of weeks.

Do you really want me to bring up R.C.'s ["White Toast"] name?

A visual reminder would be much more effective.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind seeing Carter or Atogwe get a chance to start, just not both at once.

I've stood by the fact that Carter's a SS, but with Hawthorne's poor coverage skills, it wouldn't hurt to have someone in the secondary who could separate the receiver from the ball after the catch.

I agree, though if Carter blows the coverage and is no where near the receiver when the ball arrives, it's a moot point.

Well, the guy [Carter] started in preseason. I can't see him possibly being any worse than Hawthorne.

On a weird sidenote, I had a dream last night that I watched Oshiomongo Atogwe record his first career interception, as plenty of players celebrated around him. Hopefully it's some sort of sign of things to come. Can't guarantee my dream premonition accuracy is any good, though.

Can't say I'm surprised if we do cut Hawthorne. Let's shake up the D, it can't get any worse.
