Re: With the 170th pick of the NFL Draft, the Rams select Fendi Onubon, TE, Arizona
From WalterFootball:
170. Fendi Onobun, TE, Houston
Fendi Onobun has no experience playing football; he caught two passes last year. He played on Arizona's basketball team for four years. But his Pro Day numbers were off the charts (6-6, 252, 4.45 40, 37.5 vertical). This is a boom-or-bust pick - a nice move in Round 6. (Pick Grade: B)

Re: With the 170th pick of the NFL Draft, the Rams select Fendi Onubon, TE, Arizona
04/01/2010 - PRO DAY RESULTS: One player rapidly moving up the charts and catching the eye of talent evaluators is Houston TE Fendi Onobun. Prior to Texas' pro day on Wednesday, Onobun's name dominated the breakfast conversation among scouts for the sensational performance he had at Houston's pro day on Tuesday. He wasn't even on the radar a year ago at this time, because he had just completed a four-year basketball career at the University of Arizona. Following his graduation from Arizona, however, he took advantage of a new NCAA rule that allows a player to enroll at another college to play a different sport for one, final, fifth year. Former Duke point guard Greg Paulus also utilized this rule to play quarterback for Syracuse last season. While Onobun didn't play much last season, catching just two passes for 33 yards and a touchdown, his raw athleticism amazed onlookers at the Cougars' pro day. He was one of 13 players that worked out for 14 team representatives on a Tartan track, and his performance was the most noteworthy. Onobun (6-foot-5 3/4, 252 pouns) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.45 and 4.50 seconds, had a 37 1/2-inch vertical jump, an 11-foot, 1-inch broad jump, a 4.15-second short shuttle, a 6.80-second three-cone drill and did 16 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. He also had 34 1/8-inch arms, very long for a tight end. While Onobun clearly has no idea how to run routes, and is still adjusting to the sport of football, coaches love extremely athletic prospects that they can mold and teach for a couple years. Expect to hear Onobun's name called in the draft at some point, despite the fact he has barely played football. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

Nice a player who doesnt know how to play football... looks like a practice squad player for a year or two. Its a sixth round pick so its not Like we get great value for our late round picks regardless the past few years. I Like the upisde potential of the pick but wished we could grab someone who has a heart for football Like Stefan Johnson

This pick is pretty gutsy. A HUGE target that can book it up the middle of the field?! Sure he's a project, but if he has hands--not bricks like a certain #84 Randy McMichael...the sky is the limit for this kid.
Coach him up right and we might just have someone even better than the much hyped Jimmy Graham.

There are several videos of him on youtube. You have to look for "Onobun" with an o though.

Antonio Gates didn't play football at all in college and he turned out ok. I Like the upside of this pick alot.

He looks like he can develop into a good threat.
And that QB in that video looks good. Maybe we should draft him.

Is that Case Keenam?

I really like this pick, the guy looks like he could be come the next Gates 'type' player. Give him a year, limited playing time, teach him the basics and watch him grow. He will be a big target for Bradford for years to come
Finally a little risk shown in a pick, he could be huge, or flop terribley

I like that video 6'6 = huge, with great speed and good hands. Comes in as the #3 Te keep him around for the potential to see what happens. I like it.
