#2 CB woes solved? Rams offer Rod Hood contract? RUMOR
Just heard this from a coworker ...
As reported on ESPN by Mike "Ram Hater" Florio, the St. Louis Rams have offered Roderick Hood a contract ...
Hood has "connections" to Spags from Philadelphia ...
Let's see how this plays out ...
Hood is a decently sized (5-11, 198) CB with a history as a good cover corner (21 PD two years ago, 14 last year while injured) ...
Also has value as a KR (53 KR, 24.0 average) ...

First of all, offering a contract doesn't do much if he signs elsewhere.
If he is signed, I think he would be clearly be in the mix for the #2 CB role.
He's only 27, so if the price is reasonable, it would be a good move.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

That would be more good news , a player that spags also knows.
Lets hope we can get him cheap, Chicago's my worry!
He was the odd man out in Arizona, has to now play second fiddle to steeler CB.
He would get a starting job in St.Louis. Chicago-more a chance of success but probably not a starter!

I believe his price was 5 mil with the Cards that's why they cut him loose. So I'm guessing that's what he will be looking for but fully expect him to be offered much less.
He is a good player so hopefully the RAMS can work something out with him.

I believe Spags was the DB coach in Philli when he had his best season. So its a really good sign if we bring him aboard. You can never have enough corners and he could be a good addition and our secondary would look pretty strong and would rival Arizona for the best in the division. Hood should sign here IMO to play with his old secondary coach he played well under and to get revenge against Arizona 2 times a year since they released him.
Another Eagle to look at is Reggie Brown, with Curtis, Desean Jackson, Jason Avant(slot), Hank Basket, and most likely the rookie Jeremy Maclin ahead of him. He could re-unite with Shurmur and give the Rams a decent Vet reciver with starting experience in the almost exact scheme Shurmur will runLast edited by 39thebeast; -05-20-2009 at 05:35 PM.

It would be a nice pick up for the Rams considering where this team is at CB. He can certainly compete for the starting corner spot opposite of Ron Bartell. The connection with Spags can surely give the Rams the edge on reaching a deal with Hood before another team does. The more competition the better.

Re: #2 CB woes solved? Rams offer Rod Hood contract? RUMOR
Exactly as I was thinking Beast, namely the revenge aspect. "Cut me over money when you have tons of cap room, huh? Let me pick off Warner a couple times a year and see how you like it!" Add in the Spags connection and I would imagine that there's an ok chance to get him, especially when there aren't too many places he could get a starting job either.
As for Brown, has he been released, or would we have to trade for him? He's never really caught on in Philly, so maybe a QB change would help him out. Then again, maybe it's the scheme that's wrong with him as well, and that would make picking him up foolish. It's worth a shot, he's got more experience than the rest of our corps put together.
