2008 Draft
By Peter King
On the morning of the draft, Baltimore's Ozzie Newsome offered St. Louis, picking above Atlanta, picks in the first, second and fourth rounds in 2008 and third round in 2009 for the Rams' top choice. Baltimore would have taken Ryan. Atlanta would have taken defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, who's been a disappointment. Baltimore would have gotten Ryan, but would then have missed getting Ray Rice in the second round. So believe me, Atlanta's happy Baltimore didn't make the deal, and Baltimore's happy the Rams didn't take the deal. Baltimore has Flacco and Rice. Atlanta has Ryan. Both teams are living happily ever after.
That sure puts things into perspective. I am not sure who we wouldve picked with the flacco pick but it wouldve been awesome to have rice. Then again Chris Long is finally coming around and becoming the machine we thought he was.

Re: 2008 Draft
On an unrelated note, looking at that draft shows what a incompetent FO can do and how they can set back a team for years to come...

Some solid picks there, but to tell you the truth, I'd rather have Long. I mean the guy is just dominating.

Re: 2008 Draft
The only people who have been unhappy with Chris Long the last year or so are those who only read statistics and never watch the games. All last year he may not have had MONSTER sack numbers but he was constantly drawing attention and double teams. Every play the other team made sure they knew where he was and what he was doing. I will take a player that draws that kind of attention every time over someone who may put up better statistics but does less for the team overall. After all if they are double teaming him, that is one less player available somewhere else.

Dont get me wrong. I am not unhappy by any means with Chris Long. I love the guy, but reading the article just got me thinking.

Re: 2008 Draft
You do realize, of course, that Peter King was not actually in either team's War Room, and its even money that his report is not even accurate.
That said, if it is, who cares? With the benefit of hindsight, anyone could build a Super Bowl winner.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: 2008 Draft
Better yet , lets put Julious Peppers and Chester Taylor on the Rams this year. I bet we win those close games then. What do you think?

Re: 2008 Draft
The fact that the Rams allegedly passed on an excellent offer such as this is strong evidence that Mr. King is incorrect in his reporting.
Quite simply I fail to see how Billy would have passed and, therefore, I can only conclude that no offer was ever made.
WHAT SAY YE?

Re: 2008 Draft
I do have to agree. Peter King is full of bull**** in most of the articles I read from him but this got me thinking cause it was about the Rams.
