2008 Rams HC: You MUST pick from 1 of the following 3 names

Assume these are your ONLY choices for Head Coach in 2008. Who would you want?

Mike Martz, no question. Fun poll though, allows one to dream of the good ole days when we were the ones being accused of running up the score on folks.

I'm not voting. If we have either of these three coaches we won't win I'd rather coach myself.

Re: 2008 Rams HC: You MUST pick from 1 of the following 3 names

A no-brainer as far as I'm concerned.

Haslett? No way, he's not HC material. Heck. I'm not sure he's the right guy for our DC to be completely honest. He's made improvements, but when you're as bad as we were, that's not much of an accomplishment.

Martz? Are you kidding me? He's the reason we're where we are today. He took a great Vermeil team and managed to destroy it in about four seasons. He was outcoached badly in the Superbowl and was on the losing side in one of, if not THE biggest upsets in Superbowl history. Why would anyone what that back? The longer he stayed at the helm with the Rams, the worse we got. His arrogance and neglect of the defense are well documented. The way he left and the ridiculous conditions within the organization he helped create, he's NOT HC material.

So, that leaves Linehan. Not that I think he's the greatest HC since Vince Lombardi, but amongst the list provided, I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Re: 2008 Rams HC: You MUST pick from 1 of the following 3 names

Martz.

I'd take Mad Mike. And if we had problems between Zygmunt/Shaw and Martz I'd kick the FO out instead (what I would have preferred over running Martz out of town) and find some new guys for those positions. I don't value accountants or lawyers as much as I do football people, not in an organisation built around playing football. The only caveats with Martz as the HC is you need to have a strong GM to help supervise player evaluation and you need a strong independent DC to take care of that part of the team (Haslett would do fine). Then we'd be back on track.

Martz, our defense may have been horrible, but the offense was feared and always fun to watch

How's it Martz's fault we're 3-9? He's not still calling plays from his hospital bed. He has nothing to do with the organization.

Where's your logic in not wanting a coach that'll get you back to the superbowl? We don't want him because he got us to the only reason we watch football? I'd be happy if they put him back in charge before I finish typing.

Re: 2008 Rams HC: You MUST pick from 1 of the following 3 names

I voted Haslett. I am surprised to see Linehan leading at this point, a current 3-9 coach more popular thus far than a past coach? People useually tend to have rosy memories of the past, however good or bad those times may have been.

AV, you will have to use your 300 different log on names to change the vote.

Coach Mike Madness for me. And I'll settle with Coach Haz at D.

Watch out.

Re: 2008 Rams HC: You MUST pick from 1 of the following 3 names

whats the point of having Steven Jackson with Martz as HC Martz is runaphobic. Linny inst head coach material. So i reluctantly voted Haslett with a good o coordinator he would be very successful, but without one we would have problems.
