2012 Rams First Round Pick (#14): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU

The Vikings and Browns swapped so Browns could guarantee themselves Richardson @ 3. The Vikings took Kalil @ 4, and Jacksonville moved up to 5 to take Blackmon ahead of St. Louis.

The Rams traded with Dallas so the Cowboys could take CB Claiborne. Rams received Dallas' second round pick to move down, giving them three picks in the second round.

With the 14th pick, the Rams take Michael Brockers, defensive tackle, LSU.

I don't love it but I don't hate it.

Fletcher Cox would have been a steal.

It seems like we've made what we thought were some pretty suave trades in this draft, only to be leapfrogged for the players we really could have used.

I don't mind that we missed out on Claiborne as much as I mind that we missed out on Justin Blackmon and Michael Flyod.

Expect the Rams to be active in the back of round one.

Can't truly express how blown I am about this pick. ANOTHER D lineman!?!? I'm honestly so angry right now. I hate the Rams front office. We have not had one exciting draft pick since S Jaxx. We are one of the worst drafting teams in the past 10 years.

Quoting Mort on the Brockers pick: "Rams select LSU DT Michael Brockers. Evaluators talked about his power base, active hands, ability to anchor and ability to collapse the pocket. Only a one year producer and still developing. He played big in big games. Fifth LSU defensive lineman to go in the first round since 1999."

Brockers was my 12th ranked player, so good value @ 14. Sad that the Jags jumped the Rams for Blackmon, but moving down, adding a THIRD second-round pick, and getting a talented and still developing interior defensive lineman to complete a young and very talented D-line is fine with me.

Need to use some of those second rounders on some offensive help, though.

I am completely and thoroughly disgusted with what the Rams have done. They parted with the number two pick, then parted with the number 6 pick then fell to 14. They got snookered by Jacksonville who positioned themselves to get the one guy who could've given the Rams a legit offensive threat. Then Arizona steals the 2nd best receiver in the draft in Michael Floyd. And then they finally take a guy with 2 career sacks to his credit.

This is why the Rams are 15-65 over the past 5 years.

I said before for the Rams not to get cute and trade the #2 pick. Once they did that, I really don't care what they do with this years draft as they are loaded for next year and getting the player I really want. Wish we got Blackmon or Floyd, but I want Marcus Lattimore from South Carolina next year! Tomorrow hopefully can trade one of those 3 2nd round picks for an additional 1st rounder next year. The trade of the the #2 pick, must now be about long term, and next years draft.

This is a very good selection as said before Cox would have been a steal and I hoped for him, but getting another 2nd round pick and 4 picks in the top 45 is just awesome. Just look at the "reaches"(sorry) already made at this point (typing this as Jets pick) what is gonna drop into the 2nd round.
