Re: 2012 Rams First Round Pick (#14): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
One word....TRENCHES (that's where NFL games are won or lost)
Two words....Jeff Fisher (I have confidence that he knows exactly what he is doing)

Not a fan of the pick but hey he's a Ram now so here's to hoping for the best.

Re: 2012 Rams First Round Pick (#14): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
The difference, as I see it, Fat Pang, is that 99.9% of the reports I've read on each of those guys (especially Blackmon-who we desperately could have used) were of the "absolute stud" "can't miss" variety. What I've generally seen about Brockers is a guy who hasn't played all that long and whose upside is talked about more than his actual production.
I'm just very, very discouraged at what the Rams have done here. A big letdown.

Re: 2012 Rams First Round Pick (#14): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
I can see where you're coming from but I'm looking at the next seven receivers on the board (big bodies in there) and the next 4-5 OLB's and I'm honestly excited about where we might be at the end of the 2nd rnd. Personally, I may have gone DeCastro to shore up the o-line but I think Brockers is a wide-body who can stcik in there against the run and free up Long and Quinn to make plays and give Laurinaitis some protection.
If you look at how some of those WR's and LB's are graded out, they aren't that far off first round grades and in some cases are graded as first-rounders.
And I always feel a little nervous when the term 'can't miss' is bandied about because god knows we've whiffed on them.

I hope he pans out we do need the help on the DL. I'm probably in the minority but i think if we get Jeffery and/or Hill at WR, and Jenkins at CB tomorrow. I'll be happy. LaMichael James in the 3rd would be fine.

Re: 2012 Rams First Round Pick (#14): Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
Well if you really know me that well. I guess you would know that I grew up in SOCAL 20 minutes from Anahiem Stadium and used to go to games when they were 15 bucks. I've also been a Rams fan for 31 years, even after I moved to Louisiana 14 years ago. I'm also the loudest RAMS fan in the stands when they come to the Superdome, and take a beating from Saints fans who are also LSU Tiger fans.....And the losses have been brutal lately (minus last year).
My point is.....Sure he is a local guy here in Louisiana, and I tend to follow LSU since moving here, So I guess that kind of does make me more knowledgeable about the type of player we got in Michael Brockers. So I feel kind of good about standing behind this guy until he proves otherwise. This guy would have probably been a top ten selection next year, so as of right now I feel real good about this pick.
By the way I hope we pick up Rueben Randle, WR LSU in the 2nd round. and who was the other can't miss guy at pick #6....Morris Clairborne........oh ya he played at LSU too.

Goodness some of the posts here really amazes me.. I for one do support the pick and while I would've preferred Fletcher Cox over Brockers, the guy has tools tools to help our HORRID run defense that gave a rookie ~250 yards last season, read it again.. 250 YARDS from a ROOKIE. There are more quality picks in the 2nd round for this draft so the FO made the right choice trading down to get the meats of it.

Not a big fan of the pick. Hopefully he's more of a Albert Haynesworth type player than a Damione Lewis, Ryan Pickett, Jimmy Kennedy, & Adam Carriker type. I wish we got Claiborne instead.
Hopefully we pick up some WR's tomorrow.

Brockers and second rounder is a result in my book. The Rams have needed a BIG, mean looking guy on the interior for years. So I don't see what the big problem is with this pick.?
