I don't think Pettis will stick, given his suspension. Alexander will have to show he's healthy to win a spot. Amendola is probably safe. Salas is probably safe. Gibson probably gone. If Steve Smith's knee is okay, he's a lock.

If the Rams carry 6 WRs, I'd wager it will be: Quick, Givens, Amendola, Salas, Smith and Alexander.

I for one think this is the best draft we've had in a decade. I must make a disclaimer that none of know how these picks will do but, I believe if they mature quickly It will pay off huge. Good going Rams front office.

I like the fact that we didn't go for the sexy picks and picked value. My philosophy is I'd rather gain 10 million dollars over 5 years than gain 1 million today.

I like the pick a lot. This is turning into, seemingly, one of our best drafts in recent memory!

My guess for the 2012 unit would be Quick, Givens, Smith, Amendola, Salas, and either Pettis/DX. Let the competition begin.

I see Pettis and Salas battling for a spot. I'd like to wish DX and Brandon Gibson the best in all their future endeavors.

I SAY YOU keep DX just based on production compared to Pettis. DX when healthy can ball...

DX can ball, but the injury situation is beyond an accident waiting to happen and he doesnt play special teams. I think more highly of pettis than others, he showed flashes of production last year and the suspension is not related to illegal drugs (not that that would disqualify him under the current regime). Not saying it will be pettis on the roster, but i wouldnt write him off so fast.

On one hand it's smart to take these guys with baggage because they would have gone higher in the draft if not for their problems so you get great value for the pick. The flip side is they can crash and burn. The Rams are rolling the dice that multiple guys stay clean and that could be a huge risk.

Re: 2012 Rams Fourth Round Pick (#96): Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest

If you dont get out of bed in the morning, you wont get hit by a car. Risk is part of life, you balance risk against reward. The rams have done their own due diligence on these kids. There are times when the indiscretions of youth can get blown way out of proportion. Interviews and background checks are a huge part of the draft process and the fans dont get to see that element of the equation, leading to mistaken impressions. Once people hear red flag, a lot of times they overeact.

I am not criticizing anyone that voices trepidation, only pointing out that we have gotten a ton of talent, something we have been sorely lacking over the years as we stocked the roster with four pillar guys.

DX is the only receiver of the ones mentioned with real talent but he can't stay healthy. Gibson, Salas and Petis are filler. The Rams are doing the right thing by drafting these new receivers hopefully to replace all of those guys.
