Re: 2012 Rams Fourth Round Pick (#96): Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
This is the feel I have about it.
Too often in Rams drafts I'd see a player and think 'What?' and whilst I know I'm not a draft expert, I knew I was on safe ground thinking Trung Canidate wouldn't make it.
Some of these guys won't make it but I have the feeling that there's real belief in the building that they will rather than hope that they will. One of the reasons that I thought it was right to fire Spags and Devaney was because they didn't back their picks; Nelson, Williams and Hines were all dumped in favour of guys who were re-treads. I have reservations about Jenkins but seeing Fisher come out the way he did gave me confidence that we will really try to build on our picks.
Fisher has something about him, something Spags lacked and it may be as simple as belief.

Salas showed real talent last year as a slot guy. He is not filler. Look at his production in the few games after danny got hurt and before salas got hurt. I think salas has a future with us and adds good depth.

Re: 2012 Rams Fourth Round Pick (#96): Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
Obviously, some people have got to go. Assuming Quick is one of our starters, I'd think that Amendola and Steve Smith, if healthy, would round out the top three. Givens makes the roster and maybe moves up the depth chart if either of the vets isn't back to 100%.
It's make or break time for Alexander. If he's still having to manage his knees from game to game, he might not make it out of camp. There are no guarantees for any of the old regime's picks, and I don't think we can even necessarily assume that there will be six receiver spots open on the opening day roster.

don't forget Jenkins also. Pead, Quick, Givens and Jenkins should infuse some life in to our special teams as well. Absolutely loving this draft.

Great point by mcpee on special teams. We are getting some guys that can help us in that area as well.

Re: 2012 Rams Fourth Round Pick (#96): Chris Givens, WR, Wake Forest
Salas has far more potential than Amendola. he's bigger, faster, stronger, has better yac ability and more upside.
It's funny how everyone has completely written off all of our rookies from last year. It's almost like everyone forgot it sometimes takes guys 2-3 years to get acclimated to the league. Shoot Amendola didn't even play his first 2 years in the league.
Suggesting a new staff will just hand Amendola the slot position is ludicrous. Even pro bowlers returning from injury have to compete. Amendola has never even broke 700 yards as a receiver. He does not get a position without competition.

Good point again mcpee, especially when you consider that last year's rookies did not have the benefit of OTA's and it was a shortened camp. Salas did not drop a "ton" of passes. Did he drop some, sure. but he also had at least one 100 yard receiving day i believe and several nice runs after the catch.

We needed another WR, and here he is. Looks dangerous with the ball in his hands, and will definitely put more stress on opposing defenses than nearly all the existing group.
