2012 Rams Just Missed it --- 3 Specific Reasons

At the end of this season, hopefully the Rams are in the playoffs. If not, if may be because of 3 reasons that could have easily changed their season.

Remember these 3 key events:

#1 Detroit Lions get extra time due to timekeeper error, making it very possible that the Rams lost this game because of the extra ticks on the clock

#2 The SeaChickens win over Packers on hail-mary in endzone. This may give the SeaChickens the one extra win they needed to get into the playoffs.

#3 The overtime tie. So many things went wrong here. TD called back and FG to win nulled. All to give a tie.

All 3 of these keep the Rams further from the post season. These are bad luck items that could have the Rams at 7-5 and the SeaChickens at 6-6.....

Just makes you realize that next year the Rams will really bust loose with a good draft and become a playoff contender. O, what could've been.....Keep fighting !!!!!!!!!!!

I would agree with your 3 reasons, but would add the loss to the Jets was inexcusable and the 3 missed FG's against Miami.

Because the officiating was the closest to fair as I have seen since the Saints game last year, I promised not to rag on the officials for the REALLY BAD calls that could have cost us the game.

I even gave them props for the unnecessary rough when Bradford was hit after a slide, and not negating the Scoop-6. Too many times in the past the officials did not call them as they did yesterday. So they get a pass this week.

as for the safety, i hate the line of scrimmage extending out of bounds crap

Sure we are going to accept it as an extremely valid penalty based on past experience, and not based on crying by niner fans in the announcer's booth. This type of grounding has been called on the RAMS no less than three times this year. None resulted in a safety, but they all killed drives and/or prevented scoring.

I think you can point to many events in every team's seasons past, but the 3 I mentioned are truly rare, once a year, if not one a decade type happenings....
