Re: 2012 Rams Second Round Pick (#39): Janoris Jenkins, CB, N. Alabama
I love it and think it makes the trade with Dal even better. I was hoping for Claiborne at 1.6, but we were able to trade down to draft a top DT and get a CB that some say is even better than Claiborne!

St. Louis Rams not risk-averse at NFL draft, pick Jenkins

NEW YORK -- Some teams are risk averse on draft weekend. The new-look Rams are not one of those teams.
Coach Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead are swinging for the fences in their first draft together. LSU specimen defensive tackle Michael Brockers started the fun in the first round, and St. Louis really took a risk by taking cornerback Janoris Jenkins with the No. 39 overall pick on Friday night.
Jenkins is the ultimate boom-or-bust selection. His long history of drug problems at Florida reportedly didn't stop after he was forced to transfer to North Alabama. He has shown questionable maturity to go with first round ability.
When Deion Sanders watched this year's crop of cornerbacks work out at the Combine, he lauded Jenkins for having the best change of direction skills. This guy looks like an NFL cornerback.
If he can stay out of trouble, the Rams may have a future Pro Bowler. If not, they may have Pacman Jones.
Jeff Fisher drafted him, too.

So far, picking Jenkins is the only move I agree with.

Re: 2012 Rams Second Round Pick (#39): Janoris Jenkins, CB, N. Alabama
Talent is there, but the guy is a total knucklehead. Multiple busts with the wacky weed, 4 kids from three different women, fighting....
I have serious doubts about this turd.

Huge risk here.
Entirely possible he doesn't stay in the league past 2-3 years.
If he does, we got very good value.

Great pick. I was hoping we would take this shot. First round talent with yes some issues but from what I have read he has been flying straight recently. Plus fish can make him work . And now two stud DBs!!!

Re: 2012 Rams Second Round Pick (#39): Janoris Jenkins, CB, N. Alabama
Guys with weed problems don't really worry me too much since the substance itself is not harmful or addictive, but he has to be smart enough to not be doing it in the NFL. 4 kids is still like, 15 less than Cromartie, so that's not that big of a deal either. Hopefully guys like Steven Jackson rub off on him.
The kid has serious talent. Someone posted that drafting Jenkins could soften the blow of missing out on Claiborne. It kind of has. Fisher has a history of getting knuckleheads to produce (Haynesworth, V.Young).
I'm pretty happy with this pick. Our corners aren't going to take crap from anyone.

Re: 2012 Rams Second Round Pick (#39): Janoris Jenkins, CB, N. Alabama
I've been consistent in my opinion about Jenkins...
On the field: Top 15 talent
Off the field: Train wreck
I thought the risk was too great, the Rams didn't. I hope they are right. I take some comfort in knowing that the Rams had him at the facility and did their due diligence. This wasn't a mere "impulse buy" of a player who dropped unexpectedly.
As an eternal optimist, I'll say this. If he can keep his nose clean, Finnegan and Jenkins will be a GREAT CB duo.

Re: 2012 Rams Second Round Pick (#39): Janoris Jenkins, CB, N. Alabama
This pick is bad news. Apparently character no longer counts, just talent. If the kid went nuts in college, what's he going to do with a couple million bucks in his pocket and an entourage encouraging him to live the wild life. Really disappointed...

Janoris Jenkins on Sirius Radio, when asked if he's similar to Pacman Jones and if that's why Jeff Fisher likes him: "No, I don't think I'm like Pacman Jones. I've never shot anyone in a strip club."
 :D

Boy, that should set everyone's mind at ease!

Pacman had a few larger problems.
