Re: With the 211th pick in the NFL Draft, the Rams select Marquis Johnson, DB, Alabam

Anyone else thinking our secondary is becoming a strength? Or am i too ahead of myself?

I think you may be a bit ahead of yourself right now. Give our guys a couple years to develop first. We were after all, last(?) in turnovers from the secondary last year.

While not a strength, i dont think its anywhere near a weakness like it once was. If we get OJ signed long term, it helps. But we still need to improve that pass rush

I think you're getting a bit ahead of yourself. Between Fletcher and Murphy, the Rams likely have a starter and a nickel guy, but we have no idea whether they're going to be effective in those roles. I would suggest waiting until our secondary depth chart is set and seeing them play before saying it's a strength.

Murphy has yet to set foot on the field. Fletcher is coming off major surgery. Bartell is a good player. OJ may be an unrestricted free agent on june 1. I dont see how that qualifies as anything more than potential at this point. MOre to the point, if we dont improve our pass rush dramatically, its not going to matter much who is in the secondary.

I'm an avid Bama fan, so of course I love the pick. Marquis is a good corner that probably could have started for any other team in the SEC. He has outstanding vertical skills and spent three years being coached by Nick Saban on how to play defensive back. I wouldnt expect him to develop into a starter, but he could be a solid nickel guy that will be physical and refuses to give up a touchdown in the redzone.
The Roman and The Prince. Playmakers until the end.

Maybe if the secondary can cover for a couple extra seconds they may have a pass rush. It works both ways.
