27 and Under (aka "The Core")
Okay, maybe I'm just getting giddy with the last two wins, but my optimism meter is registering high readings today. One thing that I find promising is the number of contributing players on the team who are 27 years old or younger (and, consequently, have at least 3 more good years before age is a factor). Makes for a nice core for the future:
Victor Adeyanju - 25
O.J. Atogwe - 27
Donnie Avery - 24
Alex Barron - 26
Jacob Bell - 27
Ron Bartell - 26
Adam Carriker - 24
Richie Incognito - 25
Steven Jackson - 25
Chris Long - 23
Clifton Ryan - 24
Add to that list guys like Burton, Greco, Scheuning and even Tye Hill and you have the potential for a long term core of quality players. They really need to lock up two in particular - Atogwe and Bartell.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

We do have a young group of guys. And with the draft next year, we will add more potential starters. We keep our vets for now to play and groom our young ones. It's great to see we have YOUNG core players along with vets.

Re: 27 and Under (aka "The Core")
Avenger,
What is your opinion on the play of Alex Barron this year? What do you think may be his future, if any, with the Rams when his contract runs out next year? And, if you don't mind...please don't mention anything about his penalties as we've all discussed that issue ad infinitum. I am more interested in his blocking prowess than anything else at this point.
WHAT SAY YE?

I completely agree with the optimism. However, I must admit the lack of a QB on that list is, at least, notable.

Barron's play has been solid this year, and he's proven to be one of our more durable players.
When his contract expires, I'd resign him as long as he's not looking to break the bank.
And yes, HUB, I do wish there was a 24 year old QB of the future on that list.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!
