Re: With the 35th overall pick, the Rams select James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State

Well, the Rams are showing that character means something. That's the only thing I can see avoiding Mauluga. However, Laurinitis isn't pigeon feed. He's an excellent MLB and being the unofficial official Secretary of ClanRam Defense I have to say that going with Laurinitis in Round 2 and getting the best O lineman in Round 1 is a very very attractive draft

Not happy with this pick. Ray M would have been much better IMO

Re: Why MLB Laurinitias over MLB Mauluaga?

Many people say Ray can't handle the inside in the NFL.

That coupled with the fact that he had bad Senior Bowl type games with a body and effor post-season questioned his tuffness.

Laurinitias would have been a high pick last year and we should be happy to get him where we did.

    Good day so far.

Cheers to the Clan RAm Fans out there !!!

i wondered the same thing but Laurenitis is more of sure thing given that he is more consisent and more of a sure bet to be a pro bowler. also Laurentits fits better with his personality traits, and hes better in pass coverge than Rey.

    That could definitely be it.

Avenger brought up a great point in the chat room just now. The Rams had Rey in for a visit to Rams Park, and STILL passed on him. There's definitely about him that the Rams just didn't care for, and Rey didn't change their mind when he visited them in person.

Scott Wright at NFLDC says of Rey Maualuga, "Was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching a man during a party in 2005...Has faced team disciplinary action on more than one occasion." Character was likely a red flag for the Rams.

Why? Because thats what billy d and spags thought was best for the Rams. Same thing as why smith over monroe. Trust in the front office and spags, they know better than the fans. This is a PERFECT pick for us. Ramming speed welcome to the son of the animal.

If people feel this way, and apparently more than one does, why not explain why you feel this way?

Mauluaga was not very good in pass coverage while Laurinitis was. To me, that was key. I'm not a rah rah poster, everyone knows that but the two picks the Rams had today is the best I've ever felt about in a very long time.

Re: With the 35th overall pick, the Rams select James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State

Great first day! I figured Rey would be our choice, but I am real happy with Son of Animal. About January of last year I was hoping he would come out so we could take him at #2! Obviously he stayed and now we are picking him in round two. So needless to say I'm pumped.

punahou, wasn't A.J. Hawk from Ohio State? Sure he hasn't lied up to his 5th overall, but I wouldn't call him a bad player.

Laurinitis is also the more clean cut solid and consistent guy. Steadier. A solid three down guy. Also healthier. In short, a safer pick.

I like the pick, I like the guys character, I 'd hate to see our team pick up a cancer like T.O. or remember Lawrence Philips?? I like our picks, ....another step in the Right direction.

I love the Laurinaitis pick. He's a great all around MLB. Smart, a leader and a sure tackler. I would have been fine with Maualuga, but I'm ecstatic about Laurinaitis. This draft has been perfect as far as I'm concerned.
