I'm the first to say I have little to no expertise in this area. But it is a curious pick. Mayock said he had 6 CB rated higher than Fletcher. Who's right? Only time will tell. Since BD and Spags have made good moves so far, I'm willing to give them some rope. But I don't mind hearing from clanners that question the pick. We all want what best for the Rams. This pick just seems to cause some head-scratching, that's all.
Fletcher seems like a great cover 2 zone corner. Maybe those other guys did not look that great at zone coverage to Spags?

Mayock had 6 guys rated higher, but not necessarily higher for our system. He had him as a #4 pick, but noted that fletcher was a size and speed guy.

For those who say he was reach he had a mid third round grade. Spags likes bigger physical corners and this guy is exactly what he is looking for across Bartell. He is a better fit than hill. Rams need corners there are some great WRs in this division like Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Bolden, TJ Houszmenzadah and now Michael Crabtree. Maybe Spags thinks our current group isn't cutting so In that case making this pick was a good decision

If we were going to reach we should of taken Michael Johnson.... I don't like this pick at all...

seems to be a bad pick and a reach with the names still available when we picked him..but they obviously have identified something in him that the majority of us havent so i`ll support the pick and hope like with Jason Smith he proves me and others wrong..

remember the Pats "reach" for players on a regular basis and it dont seem to have done them any harm..they pick the right guys for their system...i hope that is what we are doing.

As I read through this thread it appears as if everyone is supposed to be happy about the pick.

If you're not happy about the pick then some other members will jump in your monitor face.

Well, lucky me, I'm spared the aggravation since I have no problem with the pick.

The kid looks pretty good in the video.

Now, I'm off to find an unpopular opinion to attack. Rumor has it that will get you more rep points.....

Ferter, to clarify, i personally have no problem with anyone having a problem with the pick if they have a rationale basis for objection. "I dont like the pick because the rams didnt take ___________ (the guy i wanted)" is not in my view a rationale basis for objection. If you want to walk through needs, weaknesses of the player etc i have no problem with that. The problem in these rounds in large part is that people are objecting who know nothing at all about the player.

I don't know anything about the guy but based on what I have read, I love the pick. I have been beating the "lets draft a DB" drum for a while, so when I saw this pick, I let out a cheer.

Although we didn't expect to take a DB with this pick, if you look at our current players at DB you can see why this makes sense. Bartell is solid, but after him how much credibility has any of the other DB's shown? Hill has been inconsistent and has Wade, and If I'm not mistaken it's a contract year for Hill. As for King, he could possibly emerge next year, but even if that does happen it's always good to have depth. People may have wanted sexier picks, but this selection does "fill the middle of the roster" as Devaney once stated.

The reason people jump into other's faces is because they expect intelligent opinions with some backing ...

Saying "Oh, this is a bad pick, we should have drafted so and so because they were rated higher" ...

Rated higher by who? Football people? or ESPN draft pundits?

Every team is different and has different needs. Every teams BPA list is different ...

Every drafted player is equivalent until they put a uniform on. Calling a pick a "bad pick" at this point is absurd, particularly when most can't even add a sentence or two onto that assessment to indicate why they feel that way ...

This guy was not even on my radar, so I'll have to take a wait and see approach. I presume they like his size and potential to back up Atogwe at FS in addition to playing CB.

Day 2 is definitely unpredictable, so nothing really surprises me. If anyone knows DB's and how to use them, it's Spags. I trust his judgement. From what I've read, Fletcher seems to have great reflexes and good ball skills. Interesting that he was taken despite a DUI arrest and conviction. I'm sure Devaney will be asked about that.

In the Video he looks great!

My view is build with the lines first. I would of loved to see either DE M. Johnson or DE Jarron Gilbert. Give those guys time to develope.
Do you think the Rams could of traded down and still picked up CB B. Fletcher.

If Spags thinks he would be better in the long run over the DE's mentioned I'm glad they took him.
Rams fan for life. Lets get better o defence.
