Re: #7 2008 NFL DRAFT RAMS PICK (Rd 7, 228th): Chris Chamberlain, DB, Tulsa

According to the Rams, they'll try him at weak-side linebacker initially.

I'm all for Haslett having his toys, but I am especially glad this one was a 7th round pick instead of a 3rd (Alston).

I'm late for the conversation, but have to say I wish we had addressed LB sooner. My problem with this is that he may move to safety and almost everytime you take a defensive player and push him further from the line they get burned. If he was safety moving to LB I'd be a lot more comfortable. That being said, I hope he stays as an undersized LB if he stays with the team. We've lacked at LB since London Fletcher left, and he was undersized himself.

The one glaring need that we still need to address is at strong safety. Chavous just isn't the answer at this point in his career. As it stands now, this kid is the closest thing we've come up with so far. I hope he gets a chance to compete there. We have enough small linebackers IMO.

Unless we come up with another alternative this offseason, I'm assuming that strong safety will be our number one or number two priority in next year's draft or FA along with another DE to replace an aging Leonard Little.

I like this pick a lot. This guys has an unbelievable athlete, and there are possibilities for him to play at LB or maybe make a transition to SS perhaps.

He a versatile guy, and hopefully could make the team as a special teamer at least to begin with. He's seems like a great tackler too.
