Very good unbiased article, easily the best I have read so far. Did anybody happen to read the comments below the article? It was a bunch of whiner fans crying about how unfair his analysis was and how they expect them to be an eleven and five team next year, as if.

I'm actually a little worried by the niner's progression. Fantasic additions of talent, great nucleus of players, provided Alex Smith lives up to the hype, they could be set for a big swing sometime in the near future.

I'm just hoping our progression on defense levels what they've done.

I agree with this. I think they are now our biggest competition. I think the seahawks are in a downward trend right now and haven't done anything to correct that. I would have actually guessed that the whiners would have won the division this year if not for Norv Turner leaving. I think that will set them back another year, and hopefully give us a chance to streghten our D.

Is it just me or am I the only one that doesn't see the mass improvements the niners have made....I have a lot of whiner fans as friends and we argue about this every time...clements is the only impact player but he is only a CB....a CB doesn't make or break a defense...Banta Cain is an averag LB at best...whiner fans that praise his pick up now were the same fans that were mocking him when we were thought to have picked him up, personally I'd rather have chris draft. other the clements we all know the story with lelie and jackson is still suffering from turf toe. that leaves p willis which can one day become a monstr LB but not this year. other then clements what big signings are people talking about? to me the niners are just gambling with unproven and average players. like I said our O is proven and will put up points while the niners better hope their one CB can shut down all our receivers....and for any niner fan that may read this and argue that our recievers are old, all I have to say is check the numbers baby. ill take old bruce that puts up over 1000 yards a season any day over lelie or jackson....the whiners are gonna dissapoint themselves and they should blame the media for overhyping them so much....ask the cardinal fans how they feel.

I've read there are serious concerns Daryl Jackson may not play this year for San Fran. Anyone hear anything about this? Seattle knew it was a chronic injury type of situation and that's why they dumped him so cheaply within the division.
