    Adeyanju BREAKS arm

    By Jim Thomas
    ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
    Monday, Nov. 27 2006

On a day when seven Rams players, including six starters, missed at least one
play because of injuries, defensive end Victor Adeyanju got the worst of it.

Adeyanju, a rookie from Indiana University, suffered what's believed to be a
fractured right forearm in the first half of Sunday's 20-17 victory over San
Francisco. Adeyanju will undergo additional testing today, but if the original
diagnosis holds, he almost certainly will miss the remainder of the season.

"The fullback came down on the play and just hit me on my arm with his helmet,"
Adeyanju said. "It was a fluke accident, and it just got fractured."

Brandon Green got most of the playing time in place of Adeyanju. But rookie
Claude Wroten, drafted as a defensive tackle, also saw time at end. Linebacker
Raonall Smith, who has played end in some passing situations all season, had an
    increased role.

As the game progressed, the Rams also lost center Richie Incognito with a
sprained foot and cornerback Tye Hill with a strained quadriceps. Brett Romberg
filled in for Incognito; Ron Bartell replaced Hill with 5 minutes remaining in
    the third quarter.

Hill had the quad injury going into the game but wasn't listed on the Rams'
injury report because he kept practicing last week. "It didn't seem to get any
better as the week went on," coach Scott Linehan said.

As for Incognito, X-rays showed no break.

In addition, starting tight end Joe Klopfenstein was sidelined with a
concussion on the Rams' second-to-last offensive possession of the game. Todd
Steussie (nose), who started at left tackle, was replaced by Adam Goldberg for
    a few plays.

Special-teams player Isaiah Kacyvenski was sidelined with a concussion.

"There was a lot of jockeying of players out there, and I thought our coaches
and players handled it very, very well," Linehan said.

    Bulger absorbs blow

Quarterback Marc Bulger missed the final three plays of the first half after
absorbing a hard hit by San Francisco defensive end Bryant Young. At the time,
it was announced that Bulger had the wind knocked out of him, but there was
    more to it than that.

"I've had a bruised rib," Bulger revealed after the game. "And he got me right
on the spot. So it pretty much knocked the wind out of me, and I couldn't
    breathe. I couldn't get up."

Bulger said he has taken pain-killing shots for the rib injury "three or four
    weeks in a row now."

    Frerotte to the rescue

Veteran Gus Frerotte, seeing his first action of the season, completed one of
three passes in place of Bulger. That may not sound like much, but Frerotte
barely missed on a deep pass to Isaac Bruce and then completed a 27-yard pass
to Kevin Curtis with 3 seconds left in the half. Curtis' catch put the Rams in
position for Jeff Wilkins' 51-yard field goal, which gave them a 13-7 lead at
    the half.

Man, that stinks. Victor is definitely a keeper. I would have liked to have seen him get even more experience to build on for next year.

See Avenger. You made me second guess my reporting yesterday and could not confirm the break. I only heard it in passing on the radio.

Can't imagine playing QB with a bruised rib. Especially Bulger knowing he's going to get alot of pressure all game if not sacked. Hats off to Marc.

We can't ctach a break, no pun intended, along either line. This season has been bad luck.

I don't know who is available right now in FA?

Anybody know exactly which bone was broken, or whether it was broken, or just a fracture?
