Alexander Mending Quickly From Knee Surgery
Alexander mending quickly from knee surgery

Monday, November 8, 2010
Just 11 days after knee surgery, St. Louis Rams wide receiver Danario Alexander was back in uniform today. He didn't take part in practice, but he did conditioning drills on the side.
Alexander suffered cartilage damage during practice Oct. 29 and underwent the fifth surgery on his left knee that afternoon.
Now, Alexander is itching to get back on the field.
"The little procedure I had, it's probably not going to take long to come back from," he said. "I plan on playing in the next couple of weeks. We'll see."
Alexander conceded that he feared the worst when the injury occurred. He's torn his ACL three times.
"I was kind of upset, because the game plan was looking pretty good for me for the Carolina game" on Oct. 31, he said. "But once I got my MRI, I told the doctor, ‘Let's get it done.'
"I could've played with it, but it was better to get it done so I could be healthy and be ready."
Alexander is able to jog and expects to start running this week. "Once that happens, I'll be ready to roll," he said.

If he can stay healthy, he already looks like he'll be our number one receiver soon.

During the offseason, this kid should needs to go through meniscal cartilage replacement therapy. Once you have a torn cartilage, there needs to be something seriously done to fix that. I want the kid to succeed for us but he needs good rehab procedures before we utilize him to a greater extent.

I like Alexander's enthusiasm, but at this point in time, rushing him back onto the field with that knee is a recipe for disaster.

Re: Alexander Mending Quickly From Knee Surgery
I had my torn meniscus scoped recently. Two weeks later I was back out playing softball including running the bases. Now, I understand that playing in the NFL is different than my Rec League ball. I also understand that he has had multiple surgeries and needs to get it healed right to be able to play longer.
This space for rent...

Re: Alexander Mending Quickly From Knee Surgery
I know that because we are so desperate for WRs that Alexander is going to play the first chance he gets. I just wish they would put him on the IR and let him prepare his knee for a long career in the NFL, not as a high injury risk roster fill.

I hope he is recovering quickly - he has a lot experience at recovering from knee injuries.
