All Hail the Wild Furrey !!!!

I'm telling you this guy has a nose for the ball. It cannot be taught. Turnovers are at a premium in the NFL, and this guy is a ball hawk.

Ok, he's not perfect, this is his FIRST FRIGGNING YEAR on DEFENSE.

I saw his determination in Indy when he made the tackle (overwhelmed the Colt) and then took the ball right from him. This is his 3rd consecutive game where's he's had a BIG, BIG takeaway.

If we don't tutor and mentor this guy - and value him - I guarantee someone else will. When he learns the position - he's going to be tough in the middle of that field as a center fielder.

You can't have an entire team of Super stars and stars, you also need guys that bring their lunch pail and bring it every week.

I couldn't agree more Tony. 1 turnover maybe, but when it becomes a habit then you are a ballhawking safety. I hope Furrey has some comfortable clothes to wear in Hawaii! I know I am getting way ahead of myself, but just happy to be going into the bye week looking pretty good for a 4-4 team.

Yes, Furrey is looking like the playmaker we need for this Defense. Bout time someone stepped up and took charge

    No doubt. :angryram: Absolutely.

Furrey, as a DB shows that aggressive and instinct-in-the-making to become a reliable, 'I'm on it', playmaker.

Kind of reminds me of Nick Sorensen in the nose-for-the-football attributes.

That was a GOOD move, from WR to DB. :football:

Furrey has some sticks....whoever thought of turning him over to the defense must have been smart....

    What? Martz did that? Wow.

I agree but, he needs to work on his tackling though. If he can get better on tackling then he could be a real good one.

You always gotta love a Def player who is a ball hawk.

Yeah, I'd like to see him take better angles on guys in the open field, but you can't argue with his ability to be around the ball. Good conversion to keep him on the roster.

When he does hit someone they know it he likes hitting hard that’s a good sign. I agree he is green but he is becoming a leader on D. He plays aggressive.

All points well taken but,c'mon guys he's not any where a great safety should be! Also agree that he could do better but, he gets burned and players make him miss way too much! by putting someone in there like ATogwe which has played the positioin for years would be no different than Furrey converting over! Actually i might believe that a rookie would and could do just as well!

Furrey is a all around good player but, i wouldn't go as far as to say he is a better safety than what we might have on our team right now! Lets give the other guys a shot and then we can all see!

Agreed, and that's something that should come with more experience on defense. He's reminding me a lot more of Matt Bowen and a lot less of Rich Coady. Good game again turned in by Furrey. I'm sure Martz is laughing at home.

    TTA61, "in the making .... i-n, t-h-e, m-a-k-i-n-g".

I think Tony's original comment was to recognize Furrey's natural abilities, his disposition to work hard, to LEARN, hands on, his new assignment at DB ... and to acknowledge his potential thus far exhibited.

Sure, of course! We'll know better by the end of the season, how to evaluate more accurately his performance and skills -- just like with the rookies in our team.

So far though, No. 25 seems to have what it takes. :1:
