Re: All Hail the Wild Furrey !!!!

BTW, I finally pinpointed who Furrey looks like (okay, a little): NASCAR's Tony Stuart.

    His cousin, maybe?

Re: All Hail the Wild Furrey !!!!

He's got potential... a big upside because he just started playing DEF. He's creating some plays out there.. In the NFL, turnovers are huge. A rookie would be lucky to have three in a season - he's got 3 in 3 games.

I don't think anyone's saying he's great. I'm saying he's got toughness and he's a ballhawk AND because of his rawness - he's has potential when he learns the position and gets comfortable.

In this league, you better have multiple DBs - you'll see 4 and 5 WR sets... The PATs are famous for running 4 WR sets if you're thin in the Secondary.

Of course, many people fall into that trap that everyone has to be a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rounder....
Teams that win the SuperBowl have legitimate stars AND they have role players that come through for them.

Let's COMPARE Darren Sharper (2 time Pro-Bowler): 9 years Experience. 14 million dollar contract, including a 4 million dollar signing bonus

Mike Furrey 1st year Defense.. Probably playing for the League Minimum

Here are the numbers guys (2005) production:

Name Tackles Assists Sacks Fum Rec INTS
    Furrey .. ...20 ... ...3 ... 0 .... 2 ....... 2

    Sharper ...18 .... ...3 ... 0 .... 0 ....... 1

    Wow! Impressive comparison, Tony.

Furrey just might have the bigger heart, even if less remunerated (for now). I hope he keeps up the good work.

Furrey has Started 3 games in his career - THREE.

He has gotten a turnover in each of the 3 games.

And with Limited playing time, he leads our team in INTS

    .
Exactly. No one should be questioning Furrey. Sure he's rough around the edges, but he's always around the ball. He needs to work on his tackling and the angles he takes, but as of now for his experience level hes doing a good job.
