All time great rams team-the two easiest positions to name

Back by popular demand, more on my all time rams team.

THe two easiest positions on the team are offensive tackle and defensive end.

    Offensive Tackle- Pace and Slater
Defensive End- Youngblood and Deacon Jones

I dont think that there can be any legitimate dispute over those selections as starters. As backups however, there is plenty of food for thought.

    My picks

Offensive Tackle- Charlie Cowan, Eberle Schultz (other possibilities include Irv Pankey). I think Cowan (a 14 year rams and multiple all pro, along with Schulz (and all pro in the 1940's and the anchor of the 1945 championship teams offensive line) are the best backup choices (even though schulz only played three years for the rams, therefore meeting the bare minimum time of service requirement for the all time team).

Defensive End. Leonard Little (superior pure pass rusher) and Larry Brink (first team all pro for the 1951 championship team). Others to consider include Andy Robustelli (who made the HOF, but whose best years were with the Giants), Fred Dryer and Lamar Lundy. I am sure many will mention wistrom, but i dont believe he was dominant enough to be in this group, although he was an excellent ram.

    Comments invited.

I think at OG Tom Mack and Dennis Harrah are pretty easy choices.

Av, you are stealing my thunder AV, given that its the off season, i was putting these out every few days, but yes, mack and harrah would have been my choices at guard.

I will post guard in more detail later, but mack is absolutely a given. Harrah is the best second choice probably, but its not as clear as in the tackle and defensive end positions. You cant forget about joe scibelli, a fourteen year ram and ten year captain, and of course, an all time great, Riley the Rattlesnake Matheson.

Tomahawk, kevin carter is a fair call as a candidate for backup defensive end. I didnt put him on the list mainly because i hated his whining about a new contract, his relative dog year in 2000 after we won, and the fact that he took himself out of the game with three plays left in superbowl 34 (leading to the great comment by Vermeil, "You want out of the game NOW?"

He was certainly a pass rushing fool in his prime, but not as good as Little and maybe or maybe not as good as Larry Brink, who was a real monster in his day on a championship Rams team.

The only two tackles to note that I've seen is Pace and Slater so have no knowledge of any old school ones I know nothing about.

Without a doubt or DE's are set but I think Little would be a absolute great addition for a backup.
