I cant agree more to be honest,

Honourable mention must goto Tom Nutten IMHO for simply showing guts and balls to play through the pain barrier,

Irv Pankey? the solid LT who through the 80's with Slater, Smith, Harrah as also a key component on the line.

I'd put Rich Saul at Center. Otherwise, I agree.

Not better but just as effective and memorable:

OT- Bob Brown and/or Charlie Cowan / Joe Scibelli
OG- Joe Carollo and Tom Mack
    Center- Ken Iman

    Great tradition

There are few teams that have such a great tradition of offensive lines than the Rams.

Starting in 1966 until 1990 there was no better offensive line.

    PASSING THE TORCH

In 1966, Tom Mack joined a veteran Ram offensive line of Ken Iman, Joe Scibelli and Charlie Cowan.

In 1969, Hall of Famer Bob Brown joined the Rams.

In the early 70's, John Williams joined Mack, Cowan, Scibelli and Iman.

Cowan, Scibelli and Iman (those 3 adds up to 42 years of NFL experience) pass the torch to Rich Saul, Dennis Harrah and Doug France.

When Kent Hill and Jackie Slater joined these three there was NONE BETTER EVER.

Just ask the 79 Cowboys,Bucs and Steelers.

In THE 80's Tom Newberry, Irv Pankey and Doug Smith.

From Willie Ellison to Greg Bell.

When Dickerson was traded to the Colts.

The Ram offensive line was so great that a washed up running back named Charles White led the NFL.

Here is my all-time offensive line.

JACKIE SLATER, TOM MACK, RICH SAUL, DENNIS HARRAH AND ORLANDO PACE. Between these 5 over 39 pro bowls (AND GROWING).

gc, great choices, cant dispute them, just think if that line had played together at some point, and of course a shout out to tom nutten, who may have not been as talented as those other guys but courage and toughness wise, top of the list, second to only mr. youngblood

Slater, Harrah and Mack are all given. In fact I think Harrah should be in the HOF like those two.

Tough call at center between Saul and Smith. Both were so good for so long.

Have to give it to Pace at LT. Pankey was extremely underrated on those lines in the '80s; he was one of the few tackles that could handle Lawrence Taylor pretty well. But I don't think he ever made a Pro Bowl.

Kent Hill, Doug France, Newberry and others were good but not the Rams' best all-time.

Re: All Time Rams Offensive Line

For the record, the 1967 Rams OL paved the way for its offensive weaponry to score 398 points that year, the most in the NFL. That, of course, was in a 14 game season (just shy of 400 points isn't bad even for today's 16 game haul).

OG/OT Joe Scibelli, BTW, played 15 straight seasons with us, over 200 games.

Yes, we had a GREAT OL throughout the late 60s, most of the 70s and part of the late 80s.

In 1969, with most of the OL intact except for the addition of a monstrous OT, BOB BROWN, the Rams won their first 11 games of the regular season.

Re: NEXT all Time Rams Offensive Line

:r Wouldn't it be great to see a present-day Rams OL become one of the BEST?

Say one established NOW, one that gels and builds over a couple of years on individual and team effort ... by virtue of having found the right mix of excellent performers...

    LT Orlando Pace
LG Richie Incognito / Claude Terrell / Tony Palmer
C Andy McCollum / Richie Incognito
RG Adam Timmerman / Marc Setterstrom
RT Alex Barron / Todd Steussie (this year and next, he's an ironman)

Well, it's one of my dream-a-little-dreams for this season and next.

I have to agree with that assesment. Slater and Pace IMO are two of the all time OT greats. Mack and Harrah were road graters.

The Ram offensive line was so great that a washed up running back named Charles White led the NFL.
Add to that Cleveland Gary, Gaston Green, Robert Delpino; the Rams o-line of the 80's made average backs look great and E.D look awsome.

AND Greg Bell, who ran for over 1000 yds. in 1988 and 1989. Indeed, we had a terrific OL.
