Amendola out 8-10 weeks
Per John Clayton tweet.
Eek. He's our primary receiver, Bradford's go-to-guy.
I hate to say it but I think it'd be wise of BD to, at the very least, venture into the idea of picking up Terrell Owens. Let's be honest, even with Amendola, our receivers are less than stellar. Kendricks, will over time, be a great target for Bradford but as of right now we need immediate help.

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
Salas and Pettis will play the slot... I would go get Avery back on Monday.

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
That estimate puts him back in action sometime in November, yikes. Maybe he'll get checked out this week and get some better news? Clayton referred to the injury as a broken shoulder, which was suffered by someone else, so maybe we're lucky and he got the timeline mixed up as well? Eh, we can dream...

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
I wonder if there's bad blood between the Rams coaches and Avery? You have to wonder: considering that we're already paying the dude, why not bring him back? Especially after this. I, along with many others, was surprised we didn't give him a shot. I'd, at the very least, like to see him get one more chance...

We will miss Amendola. He's an infectious over achiever!

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
Don't worry. We've got a great set of receivers to fill in for the Amendola loss.

Look on the bright side, now maybe Bradford will be forced to increase his YPA average.

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
I've been told that Billy and the coaching staff were not happy with Avery's work ethic, overall lack of productivity and inability to stay healthy. Attempts were made to trade him, but there were no takers- therefore they waived him.
It doesn't speak highly of Avery's reputation when not one other team was willing to take a flyer on the guy. It will be interesting to see if the Rams would bring him back.
Amendola- dislocated elbow or broken shoulder, which is it? This is what drives me nuts about these "sources" who have to immediately float something out there instead of waiting to get the story right!!

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
I guess the half full way to look at this is that he will be back for when our schedule gets a little easier. The first 8 games were going to be tough anyways, having him for the divisional games would be a plus.

I am fully 100% open with bringing in anybody at this point. Whether it be Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, or Torry Holt.

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
Owens probably won't be 100% for another few weeks at minimum. I'd like to get Moss, Avery, or some other speedster I've forgotten about. We need that dimension to our game. I don't see it happening though. Avery was cut for a reason, and Moss says he only wants to go to a contender. Possible he'd settle for whoever would take him, but I doubt it.

Re: Amendola out 8-10 weeks
Assuming SJax is not out anytime... I would think they just make DX active and let Norwood do most of the returning. Seriously doubt they will be picking anyone up.
But I'm probably wrong. : )
