I'm hoping we get a deal done with him but I wouldn't have a problem franchising him for next year. Yes it's 9 million a year but we can't afford to lose him at any cost.
There's an article from PFT where someone asked him that:
"On Wednesday, we pointed out that the franchise tag seems inevitable for Rams receiver Danny Amendola.Later in the day, Amendola told Erik Kuselias ofPro Football Talk that Amendola would have no problem with that.
“I want to stay in St. Louis, this is my home, this is where I have everything,” Amendola said. “I love St. Louis; I want to be here. I understand that the business aspect may take guys away from where they want to be and it’s some thing to look forward to and it’s gonna be an interesting outcome I’m sure.”
I'd love to keep him on the team but I don't think he's worth 9 million dollars.
Well, unless they sign Calvin Johnson or any other #1 producing WR. Danny Amendola can have my sister, my Bugatti Veyron, and my rare but impressive set of French lithographs if he likes.
Danny Amendola for President.
9million for one year if it comes to it so be it. i see no reason why a long term deal can`t be sorted out for him tho.
DA to receive a 5yr 37-42 million dollars deal.
If we let this guy get away like the Dolphins did with Welker someone should be shot!
No question. There comes a time when it's ok to maybe give a guy a little extra because of what he means to the team. Amendola's intangibles and importance to the offense in the absence of any other real established threats at the receiver position make it ok to "overpay" a bit. You don't get better by trying to assemble a team on the cheap.
I am totally biased here....love Amendola and what he brings to the TEAM. We picked him up from the scrap heap and he has become a bonafide star in the NFL. He exudes the attitude and intangibles necessary to win. The Rams are a very different team with him in the line up. My only concern is his health. I'd like to see a long term contract that keeps him as a Ram through his formidable years and helps the team build an offensive conundrum. To think, we could have lost him last off season with the right offer.......
I'm going to say it's higher. Closer to what DeSean Jackson got.
Five-year, $48.5-million contract that includes $18 million in guarantees.
Amendola is way more then just a slot WR. Lets not forget he lead the NFL in all purpose yards a few years ago. He is starting to show that he can line up on the outside and hit the home run, like he did against AZ and 9ers (called back).
His only negative is can he stay healthy.
I can't see the Rams letting the only playmaker on the offense get out of town.
I don't think there is a better WR FA out there for the Rams other then DA. Bradford and DA have something special.
Don't know where this thought came from. Just popped into my head...
Since Sam and Danny are such a great combination, I wonder if Sam would think of restructuring his deal, extending it at a slightly lower cost if he knew that money would be put into Danny's matching long term contract?
Things that make you go hhmmmmm....
