Ankles Keep Bradford, Long Out Of Practice

Ankles keep Bradford, Long out of practice

    Thursday, December 1, 2011

After being limited in practice Wednesday, quarterback Sam Bradford's "aggravated" left ankle was sore enough that he did not practice Thursday at Rams Park. Bradford watched part of practice, then went in for treatment walking with a slight limp.

It's the same high ankle injury that caused Bradford to miss the Dallas and New Orleans games in October.

After practice, coach Steve Spagnuolo sounded neither optimistic nor pessimistic about Bradford's status for Sunday's game in San Francisco.

"His ankle, I told you, it was aggravated in the game," Spagnuolo said. "He came out here (Wednesday) and was limited, and when he came in this morning, it went backwards a little bit. So in an effort to get it forward, we just kind of shut him down."

Defensive end Chris Long, who has been playing through a nagging ankle problem himself lately, also did not practice Thursday. Long is in the midst of a sack streak, with at least one sack in five straight games, and seven sacks total over that span.

But Long shed no doubt on his availability for the *****, saying, "One hundred percent I'm going Sunday."

Backup QB A.J. Feeley took all the reps with the regulars Thursday. And with Thomas Brandstater no longer with the team, Feeley also took all the scout team reps in practice. Feeley estimated his "pitch count" at about 120 throws during team and 7-on-7 periods.

    Other injuries:

    * P Donnie Jones returned to practice Thursday after missing Wednesday's practice because of a personal matter. But Jones was limited in practice because of an ankle injury — to his kicking leg— that he suffered during pursuit on Patrick Peterson's 80-yard punt return for a touchdown last Sunday for Arizona.

    * S Darian Stewart (concussion) was limited in practice Thursday but has yet to be cleared for contact. That decision probably will come Friday.

    * Once again, DT Justin Bannan (shoulder), OT Mark LeVoir (pectoral muscle), and LB Josh Hull (hamstring) did not practice.

    * Once again, WR Danario Alexander (hamstring) was full-go; he wasn't even listed on the team's injury report.

Jones is hurt because the stiffs on special teams can't pursue or tackle.

This is all nothing. There is absolutely no reason to lose in SF this weekend, unless of course Spag's is still Spag's. No excuses!!!

    We are the 20%!!
