    anyone find it ironic that..

When the rams were great during the GSOT days the nucleus of the team was the stability of the receiving core. No matter What happened the receivers always kept the rams competitive.

Now the only thing keeping this team down from being a great team is That missing receiving core.

    IRONIC VERY VERY IRONIC

As would Hall of Fame finalist Marshall Faulk, but hey I see what you are getting at.

Bruce and Holt certainly did spoil us for all those years. Receivers who took care of business on the field, never moaned or complained about getting the ball (I still have a mental block about the last year Torry played for us), and were basically anti diva receivers.

We had the #1 O line in 99 and 01. We had the #7 D in the Nfl. We had Dick Vermile who got rid of everybody but 8 players. He built that team and watched it get washed away by Martz.

I was simply pointing out that we never had to worry about our receiving core in our glory years now that is the most glaring need...

I know what your saying about the recieving corp being great, Bruce, Holt, Akhim, Proehl, Conwell but I don't know if at the time we could really understand how great the whole team was. Warner, Faulk, Bruce, Holt, Pace and prob Fletcher on the D-side are going into the hall at sometime. The thing I remember the most about that team was that it seemed to me there was never a shortage of talent on the O-line, no matter who got plugged into a spot on the line they never missed a beat. Jim Hannifan should and prob will be in the hall one day himself.

I wanna say that's true but um.....can you say Marshall Faulk...future hall of famer. And we didn't just have a receiving core, we had "a too good to be true" receiving core. Not to mention we had the best dual back in history and most importantly....MOST IMPORTANTLY. We had a coach who didn't care what anyone else did. We had a coach that said we are gonna air it out with 5 receivers out....do something about it. there was no, "ok, we got a 7 point lead, lets milk the clock." No, it was "we only up by 7, let's make that 27."

Not sure it is ironic. If we had a great receiving corp. but no QB would it still be ironic? Same for RB? Same for O-line? That whole team was just great.
