Re: Anyone know Cowher or Schottenheimers telephone number?
It is great that there's two great coaches available for us, but the question is how the hell do we convince them to actually come to our..."team"?

You're talking about next year, right?
Either one of those coaches sounds very good to me.

u guys complain about being conservative and then you want Schottenheimer. SCHOT has been a very conservative coach and has cost his teams playoff games. no thank you

Marty might be conservative but my lord the man knows how to put a football team together. Put me in the Marty camp.

Re: Anyone know Cowher or Schottenheimers telephone number?
I'm also in Marty's camp and i have been campaigning fro him. You can see the effect he had on the team from their drop off this year with essentially the same team. He took a pedestrian line to a pro bowl caliber level. He took an already top 5 back to the next level. He will and could do the same for us and we will get him a playoff win. Also look at who did better in there last year of coaching 14-2 to 8-8. Our D under Haslet has been great but their is still room for improvement and IMO switching to the 3-4 would start defensive dominance. We only need 2 pieces to complete that 3-4 that we could get through the draft or possibly FA. Carriker and Glover/Wrotten/Hall at ends. Ryan at Nose. Chillar at SMLB Spoon at WMLB. Little and a rookie like Quentin Groves or Tommy Blake at OLB. Hill, Brown, Bartell, and Wade at corner. Otogwe at FS and Chavous at SS (for now)

West ... the point is ... that the way things are at present, it would seem that either Cowher or Schottenheimer are a better, more viable solution, in spite if their particular, personal styles.
So yes, as V6 said, maybe putting some cookies in the gift basket IS a plan.
Put in some real dough and sign one of them for a few years.

Re: Anyone know Cowher or Schottenheimers telephone number?
Interesting point that. Look how well Jackson did with Linehan and Olsen calling the plays.........

Controversy aside, I like the cut of both mens jibs and would go for either of them if available. My concern would be whether they would want to come to a team that has an inherent two year time frame for turning things round, despite shortcomings in personnel.
Cowher would certainly demand some sort of personnel control, and I'm not sure our current FO would have the stomach for that.
Any change next year would have to presumably include changes in structure and personnel in the FO. In fact, FO changes may central to who we get in the end.
