Avery injured, Spags says injury is "severe" ...
Looks like torn ACL, would be out for the year. Quite a shame, looked excellent tonight, particularly on the sick route on the big gain early ...

We can't just have a good game without something going wrong, can we?

That figures. We need our other WRs to step up big time.

Is that confirmed? I knew it looked like ACL, but I didn't know if they would confirm be being torn or not until after an MRI.

When a guy's leg does that "shake", it's severe. Clearly something major. Don't look for him for the rest of the year. IMHO.
Too bad, he actually looked good tonight, for a change...Faithful Rams fan since 1968

Isn't he our mot veteran WR? I think this just exasperates our need to go out and get a vet.

Oh that's just great... I wanted to see the guy achieve greatness this season but it looks to be he's going to be in Laurent Robinson's place on the IR...

Re: Avery injured, Spags says injury is "severe" ...
We have Alexander that will fill a spot, but the Rams really need to bring in a veteran WR. Even if he plays or not, a vet on this team could at least help out the younger players.
Of course the first person I am thinking of is Torry Holt...

St. Louis Rams wide receiver Donnie Avery has left the team's exhibition game against the Patriots with a right knee injury. While the exact injury isn't known, the fear is he'll miss the entire 2010 season, a source told FOXSports.com.
Avery, who led St. Louis wide receivers with 47 catches last year, was hurt with 1:32 left in the first half Thursday night. He jumped for Sam Bradford's long pass down the right sideline, fell and clutched his right knee as the ball dropped incomplete.
Before Avery was carted off the field, Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker went over and extended his hand. Welker's playing again after having surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee in February.
Avery, a second-round draft pick out of Houston in 2008, had 53 receptions as a rookie and started 28 games in his first two seasons. He caught two passes for 48 yards Thursday before the injury.
Avery first caught the eye of St. Louis during Senior Bowl practices in 2008. He displayed tremendous athleticism and physicality that week in Mobile, Alabama, and wound up being the first receiver taken off the board in that year's draft.
He's currently in the third year of his four-year rookie deal. He's listed with a base salary of $547,500.

This is horrific news...... I guess going after Vincent Jackson would make sense now.
