Donnie Avery was just starting to emerge this game too...Shame.

Laurent Robinson is decent, he looks rusty still.

We need guys to step up. This is the time. Amendola is solid, and Gilyard looked better today.

Hoomanawanui, Onobun and Bajema have gotten the TE situation down. We just need WRs.

I think the Rams have to hope for two good FA drops from the soon to arrive mandatory NFL team cut downs...

a RB and now a WR...

or should we be dreaming of another 1999 season all over again? hehe not

Is vincent jackson worth a third round pick? I wouldnt be shocked if Kroenke would ok a big check at this point. Its a new world money wise with stan in command.

A third round pick for a Pro Bowl WR? Definitely. Even with a suspension looming, I would give up a third in a heart beat.

We have to go out and get a receiver now!!!!! How can spags expect to be competitive?????

Bradford is going to have a rough year as it is ........ We can't just feed him to the wolves with no top WR!!!

Simply tragic. Avery was poised to break out this year, but like Carriker, it looks like he's snake bitten when it comes to injuries.

Will the Rams ever catch a break when it comes to having a healthy WR corps?? The inability to keep receivers on the field continues to be a curse.

No official word yet but for those of us watching, it looked very bad and I would be surprised to see him again this year.

I'd give up a third rounder in a heart beat for Vincent Jackson.

He'd automatically become the #1 WR, something we lack unfortunately. We have some talent at WR but in my opinion we don't have that go-to-guy, even with Donnie Avery. He looked good tonight but--and I guess we'll never know now--could he be consistent?

Ugh, no! In preseason? **SIGH** Sure enough, these things happen.

I feel bad for Avery. Was looking forward to him having his best year yet. I hope he recovers 100%, whatever it takes -- even if the entire season. [Nice gesture by Welker.] // Let's see now how our crisis command works things out to replace Donnie.

Spags: Avery has "a significant knee injury"

    FOXBOROUGH, MASS. _
BY JIM THOMAS | Posted: Thursday, August 26, 2010 11:19 pm

As anyone familiar with the team knows, the St. Louis Rams aren't exactly swimming in wide receivers. And they lost one of their starters, Donnie Avery, on Thursday night to what appears to be a serious knee injury.

"Donnie probably has a significant knee injury," coach Steve Spagnuolo said after the Rams' 36-35 preseason victory over New England. "We'll know a little bit more after we get the tests (on Sunday). He was a little bit down, and rightfully so. Hopefully, it's not as bad as we think."

The only other injuries Spagnuolo was aware of after the game were hip and ankle injuries to backup tight end Darcy Johnson, and a blow to the head to backup offensive tackle Renardo Foster late in the game.

Re: Avery injured, Spags says injury is "severe" ...

Can't believe what looked like a routine play, turned out to be so bad for Avery. I wonder if it was the same knee that kept him out of practice last week? Jackson would be a decent option, but it'd take a lot of money to get him to St Louis. Not that it's an issue we're so far under the cap, but I just don't see it happening, considering Spags stance on character issues. The DUIs don't really fit the 4 pillars.
