Av's "Looking West" (Pre-Week 11)
Last week's intra-divisional matchups did not go as expected.
The NFC West, like the rest of the league, has become very difficult to prognosticate.
Still, I'll press forward with my Week 11 picks:
Current Standings
Seattle 5-4
St. Louis 4-5
San Francisco 3-6
Arizona 3-6
Week 11 Projections
St. Louis 23 Atlanta 17
On paper, the Rams should be outmatched in this one. Nonetheless, I look at this game as being similar to the Chargers game. After a tough road loss, I think the EJD will give the Rams enough of a boost to find a way to win. The key will be to force Matt Ryan into mistakes through pressure. That won't be easy, as he has only been sacked 15 times so far, and has thrown only 5 interceptions. Still, when I look at the Rams 4-1 home record and Atlanta's 2-2 road record, I find a sufficient glimmer of hope.
New Orleans 31 Seattle 20
The Saints need to keep winning to remain in the NFC South Divisional race, and I don't think they'll have too much trouble with Seattle. While the Hawks looked good against the Cardinals, the Saints are a much better team than Arizona. Also, Matt Hasselbeck's health continues to be a concern.
San Francisco 19 Tampa Bay 16
The Niners are still fighting after an 0-5 start, and can stay in the race with a win here. Tampa Bay has played well, but still has the look of a team that is not quite as good as its record. I'll go with the home team in a close contest.
Kansas City 35 Arizona 10
This game has "ugly" written all over it. The Chiefs have lost two consecutive games within their division, and now must fight to stay in the race. They are a tough home team, and the Cardinals seem to be a mess no matter where they play these days.
Projected Standings
St. Louis 5-5
Seattle 5-5
San Francisco 4-6
Arizona 3-7
The Rams will find themselves back on top after 10 games, but this could be temporary given the tough road schedule coming up. Surprisingly enough, San Francisco may be the most dangerous team in the division after all.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Av's "Looking West" (Pre-Week 11)
As much as I love the pick you made, I think it's the time they snap our winning home streak. Yes we stopped an elite Chargers offense but they had a huge hole in their special teams, something the Falcons don't. I assume the game will turn out with both teams trying to claw their way to victory but the Falcons will deliver the final blow. But hey, I could be wrong, and I sure as hell hope so.

Atlanta's return coverage has been sub-par this year.I could see Amendola breaking one.

Re: Av's "Looking West" (Pre-Week 11)
My thoughts....
Agree with the Hawks losing to the Saints. Not going to happen Seattle.
Also agree with the Cards losing to KC.
Disagree with the Whiners over the Bucs. I think the whiners will come back to earth and get beat at home. (as they should have with the Rams)
Av, the Rams over the Falcons? I think you're nuts.
But I agree. The Rams win at home in their best game of the year.
So, after Sunday the West should look like this:
St. Louis 5-5
Seattle 5-5
San Francisco 3-7
Arizona 3-7Faithful Rams fan since 1968

Re: Av's "Looking West" (Pre-Week 11)
Just dont see us beating the Falcons. Then again getting beat by a BS call that would not have cost us the game in the Playoffs or superbowl (cant win the game on the first FG, ie the game does not stop), we may have just enough fire to squeek by.
Remember, its not how you fall down that will be remembered, It is how you got back up.
GO RAMS
