Balzer - Furrey switches to FS / Groce takes over KR duties

Howard Balzer just said that Martz stated today that Mike Furrey will be switched to free safety. He has already gained 15 pounds apparently and is looking forward to the switch.
He also said that DeJuan Groce will be the kick returner next season. He was a star return man in college but was never given a chance after Martz and other people got scared after he fumbled a couple times. The new special teams coach says that they have to give him a chance though.

Anyone else scared about the Furrey switch? I know he played DB in the Arena league but I mean...come on. Are Archuleta's days numbered? Seems like we're stockpiling safeties.
Hawthorne, Stone, the 3 rookies, now Furrey?
Looks like Ridgeway will take over for Furrey at WR.
As for Groce being moved to punt returns, all I have to say is...IT'S ABOUT TIME!! He was the best return man in the country coming out of college.

I dont see the problem with the furrey switch. If he can make it fine, if not, he was probably going to get cut anyway with the pick of ridgeway. As for arch, time will tell, but it sure looks like the rams are not sure what the status is.

I just don't know about this? Seems like a huge stretch to think he can make this transition....
I just hope if he blows it they don't leave him in.

DeJuan Groce... I agree with ZZRam: 'about time!. I've been saying I always thought he was the appointed KR man. I was not aware of his -- possible -- fumble tendency. Still, let's see what he does during the exhibition games trial, ey?
I also say, let's keep Archuleta put for a game or two. Adjust if necessary with strategies planned in advance: Furrey, etc.
