Bartell Likely Out For Sunday's Game

Bartell likely out for Sunday's game

    BY BILL COATS
    Friday, December 10, 2010

Barring a surprising recovery, the St. Louis Rams likely will be without cornerback Ron Bartell on Sunday when they face the Saints in New Orleans.

Bartell suffered a "stinger" in last Sunday's win at Arizona and has lost strength in his neck and shoulder area. Bartell said Friday that the injury has improved very little, if at all, during the week. Quincy Butler would be the probable starter in Bartell's place.

Also sitting out practice Friday were running back Kenneth Darby (ribs), cornerback Justin King (shoulder) and tight end Michael Hoomanawanui (ankle).

Cornerback Jerome Murphy, who had been nursing a hamstring injury, was a full participant.

I dont' know what's more troublesome, the news that Bartell will not play, or that Murphy will....

Just don't have Murphy covering Devery Henderson. Eddie Royal tore him up, would hate to see what a talented speedster would do to him.

I'm not likin' either one, especially playing against a killer QB throwing to a slew of talented, athletic receivers. It sure would be great to see Murphy take a step up and rise to the occasion, but that's a tall order. I'm seeing visions of Tye Hill against the Eagles in 2008. Hope I'm wrong.

Yeah, I was originally thinking the Rams would not win this game, but keep it within the point spread. As the injuries mount, I'm thinking more that this is gonna be a blowout.

I can't see the Rams stayin' with the Saints in this one. The Rams are going to need every break in the book.

Gotta say, I'd prefer Butler starting to Murphy or Dockery at this point in time.

Man that's a huge blow to our defense. Bartell is really good against those big physical WR's like Colston.

Ron-Ron will be sorely missed. Its time for Jerome Murphy to show what he's made of. Murph will be tested when he's in the game by Brees and the Saints.

When urplaying the saints doesnt really matter what CB starts as you will be using 3-4 on every play. At this point i would say just not dockery, no big plays.
