Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
...which one would you pick?
Ignore for a moment that the Rams probably could keep both by resigning Bartell long-term and tagging Atogwe, if worse comes to worst.
But if the Rams could only find a way to retain one, which one would you rather it be?

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
Bartell is quickly becoming a solid player, but Atogwe is a ball hawk and a game changer. What he does is special and something you can't teach. I'd keep Atogwe in this scenario.

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
This is a tough one! I like OJ and the way he's always around the ball like a hawk, but his weakness is Tackling and he plays a fairly soft defense ( opposing WRs have no fear coming across and through the Rams secondary). I would like to see OJ Atogwe become more of a heavy hitter, enhancing his game.
Ron Bartell plays a solid corner, it would be tough to see him go.
What happens when Ty Hill comes back?
Will Fahkir Brown return in 2009?
It's a tough decision for me. As of late, I've taken a liking to Ron Bartell play.
Sorry OJ I'll have to let you go! Only if worst came to worst, Ofcourse![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
Tough choice but I would have to pick Bartell in this scenario. He's fast becoming a shut-down corner and- much like pitching in baseball- you never can have enough top cornerbacks on your team. The fact that he's been matched up mano-a -mano with the best WRs the other side has speaks volumes about his development.
WHAT SAY YE?

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
Bartell every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Much harder to find another young, talented, cover corner (particularly one with Bartell's size) than a FS.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

What a tough one!
I would go ahead and say Bartell though.
But regardless, we need to resign BOTH of them. No arguing that statement.

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
Amen, I agree 100% (can't believe I agree with AV too but oh well). You have to keep Bartell, been watching him since college & he's a beast & faster than many think he runs a legit 4.2. O.J. is soft on defense and more than struggles in tackling.
When Tye Hill comes back, he'll win a starting position b/c let's face it he always looks good in the pre-season & in camp but stuggles when the real season starts. So he starts next year and if we keep Brown, then we move him to the slot/nickle back.

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
I went with OJ just because he is a play maker. Obviously it would be foolish of the Rams to let either of them walk...(That being said I'm betting they are both gone in the offseason
)

Bartell? 4.2? Not sure about that one.Bartell, been watching him since college & he's a beast & faster than many think he runs a legit 4.2."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
I'm on the Bartell bandwagon although I'd hate to see Atogwe go.
A little tired of the best plays made by our secondary happening 20 yds downfield after the catch has been conceded.

I like Bartell and all, but OJ creates so many big plays, I would have to pick OJ.......hopefully we keep both.

Re: Bartell vs. Atogwe: If you could only keep one...
He may miss tackles, but I dare you to find a bigger play maker on our defense this year. His hand has probably been in most of our turnovers. I'm not expecting him to be an enforcer that is why we need a strong safety to compliment him and be that enforcer so he can continue to make plays like he does. He might have more yards of picks and fumble recoveries than our TE's do.

AJ all the way, he's a playmaker, agressive, maybe some of this will rub off on the offense???
