He's been great. He will definitely be the 4th TE on the roster.

That's quite a compliment. Now if we can only answer GC's question about AB's blocking abilities in the affirmative. I hope so, I'm rooting for this TE.

    Re: Bayer

He's got a good feel for the passing game, great hands and is a heady kid.

He also has gotten thrown around like a rag doll on running plays.

You might take him as a developmental guy in the hopes that he can improve his strength and be taught proper footwork.

Wouldn't surprise me if he was on the practice squad. Cunningham can backup at FB and if IIRC is on the coverage teams.

    Re: Bayer

now a days with TE's, usually being really good at blocking OR really good at catching is good enough, not like old days when you had to be more well rounded..comes down to if they want that 4th guy to be more about blocking or catching..does he play special teams?

    Re: Bayer

I agree kman, but looking at the roster, i continue to believe that coach will go blocker with the 4th tight end. Harkey is a strong blocker, cook is not, reviews on kendricks are mixed. I agree that the last tight end spot comes down to whether we are looking for the best receiver (bayer) or the better blocker (cunningham) and my gut continues to say blocker, but i am good either way because i think both guys have potential. From what i have seen, and it isnt much and its mostly against backups, cunningham can catch a bit, but bayer cant block at all.

I'd bet PS for Bayer this year he's been great in the pass game. Not sure Kendricks is back with us after this year with his up and down game play. I could see Bayer getting a shot in 2015 if he does this again next preseason.
